  1. The body uses carbohydrates as “fast fuel.” It is the first macromolecule used to obtain energy for the body because very little energy is required to break down carbohydrates.

    The body stores lipids as reserve energy. Lipids are hydrophobic (“water-hating”) and thus much harder to break down for energy than carbohydrates. Lipids, however, contain more energy per unit weight then carbohydrates.

Lipids contain more C-H bonds than do carbohydrates and C-H bonds are very high energy.  One piece of evidence you can use to support your answer are food labels.  Calories are measures of energy.  If you compare the food labels of a produce that is mostly carbohydrate (like bread or crackers) and one that is mostly lipid (like butter or sour cream), you'll see how many grams of carbs and lipids are in each and how many calories result.
