This question is kind of stupid but I need your opinions. Which substrate is better for a corn snake, Aspen snake bedding or Repti Bark. I'm trying to create a realistic environment for my snake so he could be comfortable and so the tank looks good. Thanks!

  1. both are ok. I would be careful w/ the repti bark. You wouldn't want to corn snake to ingest any. It's typically better to feed them out of the cage so they avoid ingesting any bedding anyway. You can also use Eco earth as a bedding and it looks like natural soil and can be passed easily through their system. That's what I would go w/ actually

  2. aspen bedding is best for corns...they love to burrow in it and they will make tunnels going all through the stuff.  they love it.

  3. Hello; of those two, I would go with the Aspen. I have heard of Corns getting Respiratory infections and scale rot when kept on Repti-bark, due to it being more suitable for high humidity species.

As Justin K said; Eco Earth is great as well. It is a compressed coconut mulch that expands when soaked in water to be about the same texture as soil. It is cheap, attractive, easy to clean, can be kept moist for high humidity species but works great for low humidity species when dried out, and is all around my favorite substrate to use. Heck, that is what I have my own pet Corn snakes on.

Anyway; that is my two cents. ;)

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you.

Good luck with your Corn snake!
