I have a job offer but don't know where would be a good place to live. Budget of £200K to buy a house. Most important is green space, good schools and no huge council estates.

  1. Depends what you want:

Romsey is close to town with a lot of independent shops and has a lot of character, but can be quite "studenty". Chesterton is huge area, with some really nice parts, and some less good areas.  Newnham is very expensive, and very well positioned.  Trumpington is further away, but again is quite nice.

Arbury and King's Hedges are seen as being the least desirable areas, but being Cambridge they're hardly the Bronx.  And new developments near the A14 (Arbury Park) are making it more desirable.

  2. Most of Cambridge is nice to live in. The only council estate is the Arbury on the N side of town and even that is not that bad compared to other cities in the UK.
