motazila were divided into two groups, the early ones who refused any authority other than reason and qoran. the second group were secular who accepted hadith that doesn't contradict reason and qoran. sunnite now accept bokhari and some other 5 books. shiite have their own collection.

early mutazilite refuse hadith completely. the only sonna there is is god's sonna in nature and qoran.
