Which surfboard to get?

I posted a question earlier today about a 2nd hand minimal board, turns out the seller is asking for around $500. Thats the price of a new board! so which leads me to my next question, what board do i get??

I have 2 options

a.) have a 8'0-8'6 custom made for about $450-$500. or

b.) buy from the surf store. At the store its either a NSP 7'10 funboard or NSP 8'2 Longboard.

Can someone tell me if which NSP board is better or if i should just order a custom one. Personally id want to find a affordable 2nd hand, but if that doesnt work, my choice would be custom. let me know what you think...

If you know of anyother affordable options, like cheap shipping from australia or thailand or ebay, please let me know. thanks

  1. i have the nsp 8'6 and i love it, its sooo smooth,BUT nothing beats a custom board once you know what you want in a board you can have your dream board made, but if you are still a beginner than start off with used boards, see how they ride and you'll figure out what you really want in a board. =]

  2. Get a used board for your first one.  NSP's are great as first boards as they are indestructible, float really well, and are very forgiveable with your stance but once you get past the beginner stage, you can't really progress much in your surfing on them.  I would suggest trying to find a used board at a local surf shop or try craigslist.
