  1. well.... if it cost more it must be better.. and i really like "bose" there a really good company. Sony is o.k to but they like make a whole bunch of stuff.. bose is mainly focused on speakers

  2. Follow mrknowsitall's advice.

    Build one piece by piece.

Don't buy any 'box systems'. You will not be happy in the long run. The Bose name has long since lost all of it's shine and Sony uses the cheapest components it can find. Avoid both.

Consider used and even vintage equipment. Lots of bang for your buck there. Stay away from 7.1, not worth it.

With first rate mains and quality built in tv speakers you may find absolutely no need for center and subs.

More is not necessarily better when it comes to home theater. It would be a shame to match that 52" with a lame sound system.

  3. just because if it cost the most it is better not always so sometimes they are a piece of junk sony i think is the best i have a sony it is awesome

  4. Neither.  Look at Onkyo home theatre packages if you want quality surround sound.

If you are tone deaf and stupid, you can always buy Bose.

  5. While I mostly agree with the posters here I would steer away from an all-in-one home theater system.  While they may be a little cheaper, they are ALWAYS a compromise.  You will compromise sound quality, power and flexibility for a couple of bucks.  I would go with separates and spend a few dollars more but have a real home theater when I'm done.

You will eventually want a BlueRay player and the theater system you have chosen will not allow for that.  With the one I have shown you any BlueRay player can be integrated seamlessly whenever you are ready.

  6. DON'T GET THE BOSE!!! get the Sony system for 100 percent sure.  For less it will sound way better than the bose, even do a blind test of them and you will decide the same way.  Bose is a ripoff company who uses shoddy materials in their speakers.

  7. see this and find your system in one view , http://www.oxyshopping.com/oxysearch.jsp...

  8. Go with the Sony system.  I think with Bose you are paying for the name.  Save your money for components when you decide to upgrade.
