Which swiming strokes are best for weight loss and muscle building? im 14... how many laps a day should i swim?

  3. Start with front crawl. Easier and already lets you build your upper torso and improve breathing. Then you move into breaststroke, will feel lighter but gets your legs and arms coordination to a higher level. Finally, after *many* laps of these, you move into butterfly, where work is very hard and your body builds up way more significantly, as does yoour overall breathing.

    As for weight loss, swimming is a very efficient aerobic exercise but it will not replace a diet. It will convert fat to muscles but that will not make you lose weight.

    If you want both, you need to have a good diet, with good energy intake, designed for you by a good trainer, and then swim and exercise.
