Question:

Which team gets Goodyear "defects"?

it seems like certain teams are always cutting a tire or blowing a tire. Since a bad tire can make anyone lose a race. Could poor quality tires be dumped off on certain teams?

  1. If Goodyear were proven to give not as safe tires to some of the teams and, heaven forbid, a driver would be seriously injured or killed because they intentionally gave a team it would be the end of Goodyear.

I highly doubt Goodyear would put themselves in a position for that kind of lawsuit.

Beyond that, if Goodyear to do that...how would that stop one of the those tires from blowing out and still taking out one of their preferred teams?

  2. I don't think they dump them on certain teams, but sometimes I wish they would.  I've heard it said a zillion times, "Goodyear brought a real good tire today".  Failures are often blamed on camber or air pressures; rarely are those "real good tires" at fault.  :  )

  3. Kurt Busch seems to have been dealt a few lately.

Tony Stewart was passed a couple of pair ... I'm sure for his public statements against Goodyear.

Michael Waltrip likes to hear them blow out.

  4. I'm pretty sure its Penske. Sam Hornish and Kurt Busch are always having tire failures. When I was watching the race at Pocono a few weeks I seen Stu Grant(General Manager of Global Race Tires for Goodyear) with a box cutter stabbing their tires in the side with that box knife. Punctures it just enough to stay up until they get to going fast then they explode. The box blade looked just like a Snickers bar with the #18 on it.

I dont know fluffy, I would like to think stuff like that doesnt come into play but who knows it might. There are lots of dollar bills floating around in Nascar and everyone is looking to get their hands on some.

  5. No i absolutely do not believe that one bit.

Poor setup and bad driving wear out tires faster than any track can

  6. unless they are getting their car set up right tire wear can be a real problem. also if you are running further back in the pack there is usually more debris to contend with. no one gets defective tires in a nascar event where the tires are all mounted at the same place and time.

  7. Fluffy isn't it a little strange though?  Elliot Sadler has blown a tire in so many races this year...and the funny part of that is...when everyone else was having blown and shredded tires at Indianapolis this year.....Elliot manages to come in 4th.

Does seem the same drivers/teams have more tire problems than anyone else though.

  8. I think it's those teams that put too much camber, caster, or toe in their cars. I think it is a team problem and not a tire problem. No way would Goodyear even attempt that after all the events of this year.

  9. i think its because of the set up of the car not the tire. i think the tires are inspected and all are supposed to be the same.  so if one is crappy then all are crappy but it also has to do wiht banking and the track to. remember indy? no i dont think poor quality tires are dumped on certain teams but i know it can kind of seem that way because the way the car is set up.

  10. DO you think NASCAR is a kiddy show? This is a Multi Dollar operation. Ex. Gee Mr Hendricks you are getting all the Bad tires this race Don't tell anyone. Wake up. Have a cup of coffee.
