  1. Would have to say France with Ireland in a very close second, however we did eventually win and pick up the bonus point so job done......

In terms of performance the French at leat put in a better performance than the irish so in that regard the irish lose.

  2. obviously Ireland!!!!!

  3. France definately had the worst start, losing at home.England & Wales were both very disappointing, although they won. South Africa won convincingly but lost their dominance at times, Wallabies were terrific, Argentina played well and are the "dark horses". Canada & USA can be proud.

  4. ahh...c'mon! I would've (should've) put my money on the Pumas to down France with a game so hot and cold it resembles the Pakistan cricket team! Ireland...Wales...we expect them to do well so we believe they had a bad start...

I'll give you my top two...Japan for being spanked beyond most peoples beliefs and Samoa for being spanked by the ref!

  5. I think Ireland played the worst but France definately had the worst start to RWC 2007.

Ireland looked lost at times.  I haven't seen a lot of Ireland games this year but I had heard their forwards were impressive and they had a couple of backs to watch.  They breed 'em big in Africa but I would have thought the Irish pack would have handled them a lot better.  It was a weak display and they don't have many changes they can make.

Wales were almost as horrible for the first 50 minutes but the difference to me is that Wales had a number of impact players on the bench that came in and set things right.  Even before those players were injected into the game, they had Canada in a lot of trouble at times but their decision making and execution was woeful.  The defence was a worry for them.  You can't blame defence for any intercept tries but they got out muscled up front for the other two.

Despite all that, they both got the bonus point and the win and thats always #1.  France got a bonus point they didn't deserve but they are in a load of trouble.  They easily have the class to romp through the rest of the games, but they also have the ability to lose by 40 to Ireland.  You have to love the French!

  6. You forgot Italy.. :(

  7. England for my liking. Italy has a tough game and the margin was a bit wider than expected yes. France is a good side but Argentina are good to. They beat france 5 out of the last 6 times and I don't really call that game to much of an 'upset'

England on the other hand looked poor and sloppy. this was against a minow side that they should have put away comfortably. I would say the same for Wales but at least they managed to turn it up a notch later in te 2nd half

  8. France by far. They were expected to win that game. Nothing less. They were under pressure. They were thinking about winning it, not about playing well. They way they lost the ball proves that they were just focused on the win. You cant win a rugby match if you focus on winning. You should be focusing on playing well. Look at the mistakes they made. Simple things. They way they passed the ball into the oppostion's arms numerous times is evidence that they just wanted to score tries. What they should have been trying to do is set up phases and dominate the possession and territory. You dont kick the ball if you have very little possesion and the opposition is playing that well with the ball. All credit to Argentinia fpr playing well but it must be said that France were very poor.

Ireland was pathetic. I felt so good when the Namibians scored their tries. They really deserved it. They are the lowest ranked team in the RWC. Once again Ireland was focused on winning and not playing well. They didn't play well at all. Just a pity the ref awarded that controversial try in the corner, that really took out the Namibians hopes of causing an upset.
