  1. The Steelers are the best defense. They are good year after year. Not sure why people are saying the Bears. They were ranked 28th in total defense last year. They couldn't stop the run or pass. Mike Brown is not the same player. he got toasted last night.

  2. I believe its a tie between the Chicago Bears and the Baltimore Ravens because the Bears one the best D-line with Alex Brown and Tommie Harris and the Ravens have the best linebackers and secondary with Ray Lewis and Ed Reed.

  3. Consistently  year after year in the top ten in fewest points allowed .Fewest 100 yard rushers and total defense. The answer is the Pittsburgh Steelers. I am very objective on this . You can trust me.

  4. I'm a Pats fan and I like our D right now.. But honestly I think the best right now is the Vikings.. RBs will struggle against their frontmen, The williamses and Jared Allen are Monsters.. Good thing they're not in AFC East..

  5. Pittsburgh

    Baltimore

    Giants

    San Fransisco

    all have good D

  6. No doubt, its the Chicago Bears. They have all their players back from injuries and are hungrier than ever. Tommie Harris, Brian Urlacher and Mike Brown are star players on each level of that defence. Throw in Adewale Ugunleye, Alex Brown, Lance Briggs, Charles Tillman and Nathan Vasher and you have an elite "D". The Ravens are getting too old and the Chargers are full of doped up wanna-be's.

  7. Last season there was no one close to the Steelers. Even when they were racked with injuries, the Steelers still posted the #1 defense in the league. The Ravens, Bears, etc etc all have had a good year or two, but the Steelers have consistently been top rated or in the top three since the early 1970's. They totally ruled the decade of the '70's defensively and the Steel Curtain defense caused several rule changes by the NFL to try & slow them down a bit---didn't work though!

  8. I would give a couple of teams, Pittsburgh is ok, They have problems with Jacksonville every year though, San Diego looks impressive, The Pats are old but good, (it's hard though to gage them so far this pre-season), Baltimore looked good against the Pats, if they keep it up, I'd give Baltimore a 8 out of 10. you also have Washington which looks great so far. Keep an eye on Jacksonville (once they sign Harvey). Just a few.

  9. There are a couple of good defense teams that I like:

The San Diego Chargers, they are one of the best teams at getting to the quarterback and putting pressure on him.  I think that is the biggest reason they are so hard for the Colts to beat.

The Baltimore Ravens have a very good defense.  They are a big beefy team that can muscle a team around.

The New England Patriots have a very balanced defense.

The Colts have a small but very speedy defense that is very good at picking off passes, causing fumbles and can score off of the other team's offensive miscues.  The Colts don't have the typical NFL defense that you think of as strong because they are small and sometimes allow a good bit of yardage, but they typically allow very few points and score a lot off of defense.

The Bears have a good defense but it is off and on.

The Jaguars have a tough defense that makes you drag the game out and go for short passes and having to run the ball.

I'm a Colts fan, but I'd have to say year in and year out the best defense I usually see comes from the Chargers.  I like a defense that can get in there and rattle the quarterback.  The Chargers even rattled Brady a little.  It's just too bad that their offense couldn't have taken advantage and scored more.

Pittsburgh used to have a good defense under their old coach, but their defense has kind of fallen apart in recent years.  I'd say the Tennessee Titans have a better defense than the Steelers do now.

    charger: +24  http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/statistics...

  11. Based on a full strength defense that stops the run and pass I would say probably the Ravens

  12. 1. Jacksonville

    2. Baltimore

    3. Chicago

    4. Pittsburgh

    Defensive Sleeper: Panthers

  13. IF HEALTHY and that is a big IF, then it is the Baltimore Ravens.  They were missing Both of their starting corners and their probowl DT/DE Trevor Pryce, almost all of last year.  Also, their were many other lingering injries that put important guys out of important games.  The Ravens had a number 1 defense two years ago and that was when both Chicago's and Pittsburg's D was healthy.

  14. The Baltimore Ravens bring the big D year in and year out. The Giants last year were nuts with the sacking. The best scoring D, last season was the Undersized Indianapolis Colts. I think they will continue the course they began in the play offs that Super Bowl Season. Remember Coach Dungy was best known as a Defensive Minded Coach before he got to Indy, and his philosophy seems to have taken hold. So, all in all, I would probably The Colts.
