What team impress you the most in the first week of college football? So far i like UCLA guts, they were undermanned but still find a way to win tonight, wow, what a gutsy team. Also i like Alabama, the Tide are for real, they will make a lot of noise in the SEC. Finally USC looked really good against UVA, their defense is scary good.

  1. You bring up some good points.... But I would have to pick UF gators right now.... They look to be really good and in the SEC so if they pull a good season they would win the NC Game...

  2. Bama over Clemson was probably the biggest win of the weekend. Because Yes it was a "upset" but The Tide blew them right out of the water! I would like to see the Tide do good in the SEC this year!

Also last night's UCLA vs Tenn Thriller! The new revamped Bruins looked very strong, especially in the second half to beat a very good SEC powerhouse and win the upset in the Rose Bowl. Now take this game to Knoxville and you probably would have a different outcome. I mean ask Cal how hard it is to win there after Cal beat them in the season opener two years ago then went to Knoxville last year and got smashed! I see Tenn bouncing back and having a good run this year, all the way till those Gators come knocking!

Also Utah, yes they are playing a totally messed up Michigan program right now! But the Utes look like a non-BCS Team that could pull the "Boise State" this year and make it to a BCS game with a possible Victory!

Also Hats off to ECU! I'm not much of a ACC fan so Good Jobs ECU!

  3. USC.

Sanchez seems to have relieved all doubt. The defense looked spectacular. Judging from this weekend alone, they looked like the #1 team. But there is still a lot of football to be played. Every year 2 or 3 teams look invincible in September and drop a game or two down the road.

  4. I was impressed by several teams. But it is far too early to be picking the best. So many schools are playing patsies. Some are playing schools that they should be embarrassed about. USC did look good and could have scored more. The fourth quarter there were many clean white jerseys playing for the Trojans, all three quarterbacks got some time. To fly all the way across the country and play in the heat and humidity of Virginia and still win so handily is impressive. We shall see, the Buckeyes are next.

But how about Fresno (Yes Fresno State!) beating the Beast of the East over the weekend, Mighty Rutgers.

  5. I would have to say USC

  6. Of course the obvious answer is Alabama(24), but really, they beat a (pretty much) one dimensional clemson(9) team. You can say Cullen Harper is great all ya want, but it's easy when you have two of the nations top 10 RB's in the backfield against ACC defenses.  Saban also had all offseason to scheme for the same offense as they had last year too.  Everyone knew UF(5) would kill Hawaii.

Skip Holtz and East Carolina played a great game against VaTech. They did last year too, but came up short.

Bowling Green was really impressive beating Pittsburgh(25).

Most impressive to me, was Fresno St. handling Rutgers like they did.  A 17 point win over a BCS team was the perfect way to open the best opportunity for them to earn a BCS bid.

  7. USC

  8. USC impressed the most they didn't play a cupcake like Ohio Sate and Georgia did. Thats why they are now No.1. USC will win the BCS NAtional Championship:

    USC 34

    Florida 24

  9. Alabama

I have to admit before the game even started I thought Clemson with Cullen Harper, CJ Spiller, and James Davis had that game won.

  10. Bama rolled over Clemson so I would put them first. However, Mizzou made a strong case against an Illini team which should be #2 in the Big 10.

  11. Utah and USC

  12. Alabama they could win the SEC.

  13. Out of the teams you mentioned, I would have to say the Tide impressed me the most. Everyone knew that USC was going to crush UVA, they might not have expected that much of a scoring frenzy, but we all knew what was coming. UCLA/Tenn, I also think that everybody knew that was going to be a close win for either team. 2 relatively good defenses against 2 untested and apparantly crappy QBs, yeah...not gonna be a blowout. But Bama shutting down the "best RB tandem in the country" (I read from 2 different commentators) is impressive. Not even Tide fans, myself included, were expecting that kind of performance from a young defense. Also the fact that they beat supposedly the best the ACC has to offer this season by 24 points...that is very impressive.

  14. Five teams were impressive:

USC for a strong start against a decent, not great, Virginia.

Missouri for the improvements to an already strong team.

Illinois for racking up 42 points against Missouri in a game they could have won.

    "Bama for spanking Clemson.

South Carolina for a very strong defense that will derail a couple teams' chances for an undefeated season.
