Since the AFL is already going to make an 18 team competition with Western Sydney and Gold Coast, and Tassie is dying from a team, which team from Victoria (overcrowded footy state) should relocate to Tasmania?

i.e Take in the team's performance, financial status and also its hertitage.

  1. I  think the Melbourne Football Club is on its last legs and is the obvious candidate. Yes, I know it's the oldest football club in the world, but its age is showing now in rather negative ways. And I'm not suggesting the club be abolished, just reborn in Tassie. Otherwise it should be forced back into the VFL and Tassie given its own team.

The Dees have no real membership base other than MCC members, no geographical or community base to speak of, and is in trouble on the field. Even clubs like North and the Bulldogs have some passion within their admittedly small supporter base, do have a geographical area, and are going ok on the field. So Melbourne is the obvious choice.

  2. i reckon demons

  3. none...

pffft, over-crowded footy state - get over it :(

  4. hawks will go to tassy, they have a good following over there.

  5. Tassy Hawks... They have such a good record there and a great support base..

  6. Lose North Melbourne.

  7. Collingwood

  8. i believe that hawthorn should move down there, they already play 4 games a year down ther, but the ground needs to be updated first, secondly there should build a new team in darwin not west sydney, cause they should move the western buldogs there.

  9. None - keep all the teams in Vic

  10. If i had to guess it would be in order

    HAWKS

    ROOS

    DEMONS

    BULLDOGS

only because of financial status and low supporter bases, they can talk their member numbers up all they like, fact is wealthy supporters buy several memberships in different names, they even get the dog and cat one, why else do they have low crowd attendance.

These 4 will either fold or merge eventually, i have nothing against these sides but the amount of money it cost to run a footy club these days, some clubs can not keep up, if i had my way i would turn back the clock and make it the VFL again, but that is fairyland stuff, reality is, we have too many teams.

  11. none, considering the competition started out as the Victorian Football League, we have already lost one team in semi-recent years, Fitzroy. not to mention south melb for sydney to be born. why should we loose more Victorian clubs.
