Which team would be the best fit for Rick Nash? -NHL Free Agency Special
Rick Nash is doing everything possible to avoid playing in Columbus again next season with the Blue Jackets, but signing a player of his calibre and financial demand is not as easy as it looks for a majority of the teams around the National Hockey League
(NHL).
There are a number of teams that could possibly have the player on the squad next season, but it is certainly unclear of which club might be the best for him and themselves, since that is the only thing that matters in the end.
New York Rangers, Boston Bruins, San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings are the teams that are reportedly on the list of those clubs which Rick Nash has approved to continue talks with.
After Zach Parise and Ryan Suter joined the Minnesota Wild, the spotlight is now back on Rick Nash as his value had gone down with teams in hot pursuit of the others. One of the major things that is stopping a team from grabbing Rick Nash is without a doubt
his huge eight-year contract which will be paying him $62.4 million.
The New York Rangers have urgency for Rick Nash and are probably the leading team in terms of talks and offers made. They need a goal scorer and with Marian Gaborik out until December due to a shoulder surgery, getting Nash on the squad seems like the only
viable option.
According to many, Rick Nash would be an optimal fit with New York as Brad Richards would take centre position, Chris Kreider on the left wing and Nash steering the plane on the right.
Boston Bruins seem a little out of the way for a player like Nash due to the presence of already some of the best forwards and enforcers in the league. Naturally, Bruins are attracted towards players who have a physical style of play, which is not what Rick
Nash carries with him.
San Jose Sharks seem to be the second team that would most suite Rick Nash due to their dire need of a top level forward after losing a number of such players to the free agency last year back in 2011.
Sharks have the potential to win the Stanley Cup, something that is driving Nash to desert Columbus Blue Jackets, as the club has been able to reach the Western Conference Finals a number of times, but crossing that mark has been difficult in every way for
them.
