I have had a bad cold for several days. Last night, I breathed through my mouth as I slept. At 8:00, my default time, my temperature was 96.98 when I woke up and took it. I blew my nose and went back to sleep; I never got out of bed. I slept for two more hours, through my nose. I took my temperature again when I woke up, and it was 98.04. Which temperature should I use? When you breathe with your mouth open, it doesn't keep heat in.. I'd like to use the second temperature, but I somehow feel like that's cheating.

What do you advise? I know, I know, you should only take your temperature once, to prevent confusion. This is not something I normally do, but I thought with the strange circumstances, I should do it. Thanks in advance!

  1. I'd use the 98. Seems closer to your current data, but I don't think your provisional ovulation data is correct, BTW. Doesn't look like you ovulated yet.

  2. since the second temperaturee was taken after two hours, you have to accept that.

It doesn't matter how you breath, the reading you get just depends on where you place thethermometerer.

  3. I would consult the new england journal of medicine.

  4. what does this have to do with trying to concieve? it doesnt matter how you breath. you had a low temperatre and now you have a fever.

  5. i would deff use the 98.04

    hope you feel better

  6. I would use the first temp and maybe make a note on your chart about sleeping with your mouth open, then at least you have your first temp in and some information to go along with it for future reference
