Question:

Which tennis racket do I choose?

I'm currently using a Prince Shark MP, and I'm thinking of buying a new racket. I'm stuck between the Prince o3 silver and the Prince o3 blue. I know the head sizes are very different but, whilst using the Shark MP, I've come to the realisation that I need a larger head size.

I'm a player who likes a lot of power. I don't often slice and I volley only sometimes, but mostly I like to play from the baseline. I definitely want a racket with a lot of power and I know both will provide this, and according to the Prince power level, the Silver has more power behind it. However, according to Prince, the silver is for players with short, slow strokes whereas I'd probably say that I have longer, faster strokes, and the blue is more suitable for this.

Which racket would you recommend I get?

  1. Do you have any tennis shops near you? The employees should be able to help you out, plus you'll get to hold each racket and see if you like the feel. Putting one of those thingies on the strings to increase tension always make a good racket better for me (sorry I don't know the proper name for it). I still use an old Prince racket because it just works for me so I'm not familiar with the differences in the newer models.

  2. 1. Don't listen to the Prince guides.

    2. The Silver is a model granny stick; unless you're under 6 or above 60, its not gonna help you.

    3. The Shark is a very good racquet and should have adequate power, so if your strokes are relatively fast, it should have more than enough pop for you.

All of which leads me to think you might benifit from a few more lessons from a pro. However, if you really can't live without a new racquet, I suggest you get the blue.

  3. If you have long, fast strokes then you shouldn't need a powerful racket. Noob.

  4. I tried some of the Speedports, and I have to say they sucked. They feel like trampolines on sticks with no help on control. I suggest the Babolat Pure Drive Roddick if you want power using long strokes.

  5. You may want to increase your brand options, since I LOVE Head rackets and would recommend them to anyone, if you're interested. If not, I would go with the silver racket.
