  1. It depends a little bit on what aspect of theory you're interested in.

If you're interested in Sonata Theory and classical music the best places are Eastman and Oberlin or Julliard.

For Jazz theory Berklee, NEC and IU are good.

For modern music UCSD, Oberlin and NEC are the best.

  2. Julliard. Good luck with your musical future.

  3. julliard. IF you can get in. it's supposed to be THE hardest school to get in in usa. EXTREMELY high standard.

  4. Julliard, my chorus teacher used a degree in performing arts from there to jump-start her performing career and then went into teaching.  I heard that it is hard, but if you are dedicated and practice often, then it would be the best choice for your future.

  5. Berklee, they have a great international community.  The theory classes are very jazz based, but they make more sense than any traditional theory classes I've ever taken.
