these tools can be items utilized to help you build a house, or a life. lessons learned, skills accumulated, beliefs taken (and taken away) and techniques for getting along with others (and for getting what you want) are tools just as surely as computers, hammers and saws are.

you wish you knew then what you know now.... what?

  1. Two things-

The ability to say "No"- Looking back on some of the things I said "yes" to when I really wanted to scream "no," I wish I would have learned that it's okay.  Ooh, and to let my "no" speak for itself without feeling obligated to defend it.  I'm still working on that part now.

Telephone etiquette- I'm not rude on the phone (I don't think), but for some reason, I STILL get a little anxious when I have to make phone calls.  Even something simple like setting up a hair appointment gets me all nervous.  I wish I had learned how to be comfortable on the phone a long time ago.

  2. the ability to stay calm, no matter what.

  3. I wish that I had learned to play guitar earlier. I was always listening to music. My Mother played piano (so we had one around) and violin (poorly) but I never really seriously considered playing until she gave me a guitar long after I had moved on.

Edit: BTW, I don't mean to imply that I have mastered the guitar.

  4. Always work on self-improvement

    Get a good education

    Practice moderation in all things

Learn to like people and seek the good in them

    Don't party too much

    Exercise regularly

    Don't always follow the crowd

Get your rest, but not too much

Go to bed early and get up early

    Think before you speak

    Don't react in anger

    Be curious, ask questions

Don't spend more than you make

Apologize when you've made a mistake

    Don't gossip or swear

    Be positive

  6. I wish that I could have learned the art of studying and patience.

As both were lost to me, I dropped out of school at an early age.
