  1. Isn't it illegal to buy tortoises? Just beware that they live loooong lives, make sure you can keep it forever if you decide to get it.

  2. Russian tortoises and Greek tortoises are the lowest maintenance tortoises (easiest to care for). Greek tortoises require a much higher enclosure though and more specific humidity needs, so I would get the Russian tortoise over it. Russian tortoises don't require as high enclosures. You can keep both of these tortoises in groups, so don't worry about that.

Don't use a glass tank though, tortoises do not understand the concept of glass and will always try to roam out through the glass. Buy a plastic bin/tub that's about as big as a 50 gallon tank.

There really are no cons to owning either of these tortoises, they are excellent beginner tortoises.

If your ordering online be sure they have a "arrive alive guarantee", I don't order from sites that don't have that. If you decide not to buy from IIIreptile buy it from kingsnake.com, that's one of the best sites to buy animals (in general).

  3. sorry i can't help myself but what's up with the double question mark? just to be fair i'll try to answer your question; i think you should get a baby tortoise because they are easier to care for.

  4. Greek tortoises are one of the easiest to care for, but they can climb so a high sided pen is required, you can get them in pairs as long as you don't get two males, once the males reach maturity they will fight for territory so if you want two you need to make sure that you get two females or a male and female, yes baby tortoises do have the same care needs as adult tortoises, but they do need a basking lamp at all times and it is recommended you do not put them outside until they are a years old, plus the fact it is not recommended that you hibernate a juvenile tortoise, but they eat the same diet as adults just a bit less than them, here are some sites that you can look at and see how to care for juveniles  http://www.tortoisetrust.org/   http://www.slowcoach.org.uk/slocare.html , best of luck honey hope you get the tortoise you want.
