Which train horn is better and why??

  1. I will have to go with the Leslie just because when we used to rebuild our horns on the Soo Line (replaced the seals and the cracked/shattered diaphragms), many times the Nathan horns would not work properly (not blow or just eek out a squeak).

    I don't ever recall having this problem with the Leslie horns after a re-build.  Now when horns become defective they just replace the whole set due to liability issues.  I have quite a pile of both Nathans and Leslies in my garage and my Ford Windstar has a really nice 5 chime set of Nathans "P" horns under the hood.  It was tough getting them installed but was well worth the effort!  Man, I sure do miss working at the RR!!
