  1. You can always count on Native New Yorker for the best answer.  He's a good friend to all who ask about NYC here.

  2. Take the D or B train.  During games, the D makes the Yankee Stadium stop, so you don't have to worry.  The stop closest to your hotel is at 34th and Broadway (34th/Penn Station stop), which is one block east of 7th Ave.

  3. Hi there!

The D train is your best bet.  The closest stop is "7th Ave", which I believe is at 7th av and 51st or 52nd st.

  4. All the answerers are close but they all have missed the mark.

Your question is that you want to to take the train at the nearest subway stop from your location which is Hotel Pennsylvania at 401 7th ave.  You are right across the street from the 7th ave and 32nd street entrance to Penn Sta.

1- Cross the street from your hotel and go down the escalator to the entrance of Penn Sta at 7th ave and 32nd street.

2-- Once off the escalator continue straight a head for a short distance turn right at the sign that says to LIRR Sta.  Right at that sign is an escalator you will go a short way down to the next level.

3- Once off that escalator walk straight a short distance and when the sign says LIRR ticket windows make a right go straight ahead and you will see the token booth fand the turnstiles for the 7th ave IRT Subway numbers 1, 2 and 3 trains.

4- Swipe your metrocard at the turnstile and walk to the right and go up yes go up the stairs where the sign says UPTOWN IRT #1 subway.

5- go up the stairs and you will be on the platform which is the uptown #1.  You must take only the number 1 uptown subway train as it is the only IRT train that stops at 59th street which is a local stop on the IRT line. (You will get on at 34th street Penn Sta stop and then pass 42nd street Times Square stop and pass 50th street and then you get off at 59th street.

6-Once you get off the train follow the signs to the A C and B D lines.

You will ahve to go through a walkway and then go down the steps again and there you can wait for the D train which will take you to 161st & River Ave subway stop where Yankee Stasium is.

The other answers were pretty good but you wanted the closest subway staion from your location.

The other good choice is the answerer who said to go to the 34th street and 6th ave subway station and then you can get on the D train right there and get off at 161st & River Ave stop for yankee stadium.

If you chose that one then you can come out of your hotel on the side entrance of 32nd street and make a left and go a short distance down to the end of the block and enter the subway station at the 32nd street entrance and go through the turnstile and go down the stairs where the sign says uptown and the Bronx B D & F trains.  Then just get on the D train and get off at 161st and River Ave subway stop for Yankee Stadium

That is the second closest subway stop to your hotel.

The 8th ave A C & E station is further away at 8th ave and 34th street or the other entrance is all the way through the other side of Penn Sta.

  5. My friend, the first poster got all wrong, the nearest subway line to the Pennsylvania is the "A", "C" and "E" subway lines (Blue Line). You can take the uptown (northbound) "A" train, which runs express, from 34th Street-Penn Station to 145th Street.

Once at 145th Street, transfer downstairs to the "B" or "D" subway lines (Orange Line). Take either Bronx-bound (northbound) train from 145th Street to 161st Street-Yankee Stadium.

Please be aware that during the evening rush hour, Bronx-bound "D" trains runs express from 145th Street to Kingsbridge Road, bypassing Yankee Stadium. Please take the Bronx-bound "B" train instead.

I hope this information is very helpful.

    Good luck
