  1. Forget the 6.4, it hasn't proven to be reliable and it has been proven to be very inefficient. The 7.3L was and still is a better engine. I wish Ford had stayed with that engine.

If you don't plan to do much towing or heavy hauling, I suggest staying with your gasoline pick-up. The price of the diesel engine and transmission is about $7,000 more than the same truck with a gas engine...and you would have to pay an extra $0.50 a gallon for diesel. My company has both the Power stroke diesel Navistar engine and the regular gasoline V8. The diesels are definitely more expensive to keep running than the gas engines.

  2. diesel is better

  3. I'd stick with the truck you already own if i were you. gas prices aren't really getting any lower. Since you already have a smaller engine than you are thinking of upgrading to, you're already getting the better gas mileage.

  4. fuel mileage will go up by at least 6-8 mpg on diesel compared to unleaded and you will have gobs more torque with a diesel. I would guess you are getting between 9-12mpg now. Diesel will net 16-20mpg
