I have three options, a Yamaha ytr-2320, a Conn 22b, and a Holton T620R Collegiate, I'm thinking about getting the Yamaha, I'm in my Sophomore year in Classical High (RI), I've been playing since 7th grade, I'm in marching right now, so which one is better?

  1. I have to disagree with the above.  The Yamahas are nice instruments.  The Conn is good, but if something goes wrong with it you might have to wait a while on certain parts.  Conn-Selmer just recently got off a one year strike and are way behind on the manufacturing side of things and there are considerable wait times for certain parts.  Something eventually goes wrong at the most unexpected times with every instrument.  The Yamahas seem to have considerable durability.

  2. Yamaha is the best of those. It is a good quality and well made brand. Although Bach Stradavarius is best when it is in your budget.

Bring your tuner and mouthpiece and find a store with your selections and try out multiple trumpets before you choose one. Each horn is made differently, including those in the same brand. Good luck!

  3. Hi Jake

Get a Conn. Better sounding horn and very precise. Yamaha sax are not bad but nothing compares to Selmer, King, and Conn and Bach.

Bach is another one you should consider. Stay away from japanese horns. The lacquer is thin and wears off. not so with a Conn, King or Bach. Plus, the resale value of a Conn is way better than a Yamaha.
