My mother was a twin, she had a twin sister who died at birth. She later died when she was 23.

Back further in my family, supposedly there are another set of twin girls.

Fraternal or identical?

  1. fraternal.  My guess was her grandparents (your great grandparents) were twins because faternal twins skips generations DNA wise.

  2. fraternal twins are genetic, and they have to be in the females side so its possible that you'll have twins. But if it was your partners mum (i know its now but just as an example) that was a twin than it has no affect on your kids. Identical twins are just a "freak" of nature so to speak.

  3. Fraternal twins run in families.  Below is a link that explains hyperovulation and debunks the myth that twins "skip" generations.

This information, though, does not say anything about whether your mom or this other set of girls were identical or fraternal.  It could just be coincidence that there were identical twins in the family over a few generations.

  4. Fraternal. There has been no complete proof that identical twins are hereditary, but releasing two eggs is a genetic thing passed down through families.

  5. identical

  6. fraternal does I think. my dad is a fraternal twin, which means my bro or I could have twins.
