  1. The carotid arteries carry blood to the head, and the jugular veins return blood from the brain to the heart.


  2. I would have answered the question first but Mr. Biologist took it lol. Yes, the blood travels from your aorta (emerging from your aortic semilunar valve on the left side of your heart) and travels through the carotid artery, delivering oxygenated blood, then flows back through the jugular vein and back into the right side of your heart again.
