  1. Paache VL double action.  Purchase a 3 gallon portable "diaphram" compressor.  These types of compressors are generally quiet and relatively inexpensive.  Some carpenters use these compressors to operate brad nailers.  The Paache VL is a great beginner's airbrush, though many professionals use the VL regularly.  They are generally sold with 3 interchangable needles...one FINE, MEDIUM and COURSE.  You can use the open syphon cup or purchase syphon "bottles". The Paache VL is durable and will last many years if you keep it clean and don't drop it.  Instead of "frisket", use clear vinyl shelf liner.  It has a little less tack than frisket, but cuts just the same with a good #11 XActo knife blade.  One 25 foot roll of clear vinyl shelf liner is only about $3.00.  10 small sheets of airbrush "frisket" is about $15.00.  Hope this helps.
