  1. Depends on what you are trying to achieve ?

A "restore" , in which case, do some research and determine what was fitted originally. If it`d just to "play" then fit whatever you like. The " funnel" is more correctly known as a "megaphone" and , yes, it will make it a bit louder, but if it`s not of the right size and length it will most likely make the engine produce LESS power !

And I hope you`ve got somewhere private to ride it and not just hoping to ride around the countryside making a nuisance of yourself.

  2. Classic moto- cross bikes, It depends whether it is a two of four stroke.

Two strokes us expansion boxes, most went under the petrol tank and the seat exiting near the rear damper, a few like Jawa split single ran the expansion boxes under the engine tight to the centre line.

Four stokes all ran on straight open exhaust running along the top of the engine exiting near the rear damper, the twin four strokes like Triumph Tiger 100 used siamese pipes again exiting near the rear damper.

Megaphones were only used on track racers because they narrow the band something you do not want on a off road motorcycle.
