Which type of fuel do you think will be the most popular in the long-run...

Biodiesel, Ethanol, or nuclear?

Also, could anyone list some of the pros and cons of each type of fuel?

thanks in advance :)

  1. Air

  2. it would be safest to invest in one of the major company's that supplies our current energy. their doing the most research for viable alternatives.

they also have the cash reserves & motive to develop, market and build the infrastructure for whatever economicly feasible  new technology seems most promising.

try to stay away from quasi government ran things like public utilitys. anything the government controls will be on the trailing edge of anything new not the leading edge where the real money is.

in portable fuels you will always buy your compressed hydrogen, methane or bio fuel and fuel cell recharging supplies from the same companys you now buy your gasoline from.

    THE BIG OIL COMPANYS

when investing never let emotion play any part in your decision, but always be aware of which way the political winds blow.

  3. For the near future, Coal, oil, and gas Will become more and more in demand a more valuable. Nuclear will become the next largest source because it is the only alternative available that has proved to have the ability to provide enough reliable 24/7 power that does not produce CO2. I believe Fusion Power will follow Nuclear. Solar, Wind, Geothermal, Wave, etc. will all play their part, but cost and reliability will always keep them more regional, and not the major player. Solar will do well in more dry desert areas, and wind is limited to fairly unpopulated areas that have the topography. Both are still depending on the qualms of nature. Geo  is fairly limited to areas where it is easy to reach the heat source.

I would stay away from Solar and Wind. Solar has struck out several times once the government subsidies stopped. That is even in Arizona where the sun shines all the time. Wind is in that position now. Some greedy investors are getting rich on our money as we speak because the government subsidies and forced-use laws are the only thing keeping them alive. Wind cannot stand on it's own merits. Maybe in a few years if Nuclear doesn't take off.

Anyway, never gamble on subsidies. The government is sometimes fickled.

  4. what company to invest in is really different than what fuel will be the most popular in the long run.

Biodiesel and Ethanol will not be big in the future.  they are too inefficient.  and they have relatively little energy.  the reason they're being promoted is that it takes quite a lot of gasoline / diesel to run the farm equipment to grow them, and there's almost no benefit to them as far as fossil fuel used.

(you have to put the link together.  yahoo has code to prevent posting a google link.)

nuclear will be a big source of energy for many years.  but it's probably not a good investment today.

hydrogen fusion is still decades away, at best.  but it would be an energy source for many millennia.

wind and other solar driven sources, including hydro, would be available forever.

hydrogen is not an energy source.  it's a storage medium, much like a battery.  it is a contender to a battery for storing energy, but there are dangers associated with it, that probably won't become obvious until it's use becomes more wide spread.

if you're investing today, coal and oil will be, or should be, profitable for many years to come, even though they are not good for the environment.

  5. The best is fossil fuels. People think we will run out but NO!!! . The plants are recycling the fossil fuels for us right now. It is the plants that capture the sun light and convert it into oil. CO2 is taken in by the plants and the O2 is released ,but the plants keep the C for its food. That is all the plant oil. Is converted into fossil fuels after a time.

  6. If you're talking about transportation fuel, it will be electric.  Electric cars are the most environmentally friendly option on a large scale, the infrastructure (power grid) is already in place, and the technology is advancing rapidly.  A really good company in the electric car industry is ZAP.

As to specifically what type of energy will supply the electricity, we'll be moving toward renewable energy, mainly solar and wind power, but also other options like wave and geothermal.  Nuclear will be one component, but I doubt we'll expand too much further into nuclear power because there are several issue with it, such as what to do with the waste and security issues with having increased supplies of enriched uranium.

  7. Honda has just released their first Hydrogen car (FCX Clarity).

"The FCX Clarity is a next-generation, zero-emissions, hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicle based on the entirely-new Honda V Flow fuel cell platform, and powered by the highly compact, efficient and powerful Honda V Flow fuel cell stack."

It definitely has potential for "future car technology". In fact Honda just gave the first Individual Customer from Las Angeles a 2 year lease on the FCX.

I built my first hydrogen cell about 5 years ago and now currently run 2 trucks, my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen (no ones contacted me yet) and offer a step by step DIY guide to walk anyone interested threw the process. You can find it at www agua-luna com or you can email me.

let me start off by saying Hydrogen is a great option for the concept of free energy.     I built my first hydrogen cell about 5 years ago. Have converted over 50 vehicles in the last 10 years (gydrogen and EV) and now currently run 2 trucks (and another EV), my home hot water heater, home stove and home generator on hydrogen for free with caught rain water and the help of a $10 solar panel.  I offer a step by step DIY guide to walk anyone interested threw the process. You can find it at www agua-luna com or you can email me.

There are basically 3 safe ways to make and use it... chemically, electrically and molecularly, the first 2 being easier so I'll only discuss them here. The fallowing steps were taking directly out of a DIY guide I offer to those who would like to run their vehicles or home on hydrogen safely. The entire guide is available at www agua-luna com

On demand h2 generators are a bit different from the Hollywood versions like seen Chain Reaction with Keanu Reeves, that tend to explode violently every time a film is being made. However when used in an on-demand system there is no storage of hydrogen and oxygen in its gas form, only liquid (water) and is only transformed into gas “on-demand” in small cylinder size amounts. It’s actually safer then gasoline as it doesn’t evaporate, creating explosive fumes in the tank like gas. the following were actually taken out of my $5 guide available at www agua-luna com

        Chemically

        1. You’ll need a 6inch x 1ft schedule 40 pvc pipe. With pvc cement glue a cap on the bottom and use a s***w on cap for the top. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, s******g in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).

        2. Now crunch up a couple aluminum cans (beer cans, soda cans etc) and drop them into the pvc pipe, along with a couple cups of lye (Red Devil drain opener has lye in it, some Clorox and Drano’s do to).

        3. Then simply add water, s***w on the top and wait a few minutes.

What happens in simplicity is that aluminum and lye don’t really get along so they battle, and as always the innocent civilians (water H2O) that the most casualties, by giving up its hydrogen and oxygen. This then builds up in the void of the pipe and is ready to be vented into your engine, by opening the valve. You may need to start your engine on gas then switch it off after the hydrogen starts burning.

Electrical is a bit easier then Chemically.

        1. Simply take a small solar panel 1.5 amps is what I use ($9 at harborfreight.com), connect the 2 wires from the panel +- to 2 conductors (carbon cores of batteries work well, just be careful removing it from the jacket), but any conductive material will work ie. Copper, aluminum, steel, etc.

        2. Drop the wires into a water tank (I use 55gal drums), make sure they don’t touch each other.

        3. Drill a small hole (1/4inch or so) in the side close to the top, s******g in a small copper shut off valve. Place a few feet of stranded (food grade is good) flex hose to the valve and into the air intake of your engine (carburetor or fuel injections).

        4. Then simply add water, s***w on the top cap and wait.

After a few hours tiny bubbles will form and rise off one conductor (that’s hydrogen) and even smaller bubbles that just looks like foam will rise off the other (oxygen). I don’t remember which likes the positive and which likes the neg hydrogen or the oxygen.

The third method is more complicated and is what I use for my vehicles. It’s just a modified Joe’s Cell, there’s a step by step DIY guide available to walk you threw the process here www agua-luna com

It also covers the other 2 methods described in more detail.

Hope this helped, feel free to contact me personally if you have any questions if you’d like assistance in making your first self sufficient steps, I’m willing to walk you step by step threw the process. I’ve written several how-to DIY guides available at  www agua-luna com on the subject. I also offer online and on-site workshops, seminars and internships to help others help the environment.

  8. Gasoline and diesel like it always has been. We won't run out for a very very long time so don't worry about the supply. Just worry about the rise in cost due to inflation.
