I just love being a vegan. Every day you learn something new, like today, when I learned that some gum is made with beetle ****. Does anyone know or have a list of vegan gum? I always stay away from gelatin, but I've never seen "bug ****" on the side of a pack of gum. Please help! This is really disgusting.

  1. Bugs are everywhere.  Do you know how many cold germs your antibodies kill when you get sick?  Better get rid of those pesky antibodies!  Cold germs are living things too!

  2. Wow.

Vegans wont even eat gum now?

    How sad.

  3. I'm not a vegan and I dont know all of the ingredients in things that are from animals or bugs but I just bought Peelu gum and heres the ingredients:

Sorbitol, gum base, maltitol syrup, natural oil of spearmint, soy lechithin, peelu extract, titianium dioxide, resinous glaze, and carauba wax.

  4. That is almost near impossible. There is gelatin free gum but just about everything that is processed has bug parts and or rodent hairs.

  5. I am deeply sorry to tell you that most gum (practically all) gum has some kind of bug part in them. the actually gum that makes it chewy has some bug in it. Also, Chocolate had bug legs in it as well. I just wanted to let you know. I see your sensitive on that subject. My friend is the same way. She won't eat gum or any candy, because she is afraid of eating a bug.

  6. Wrigley's brands are vegan but they were recently bought by Mars Candy.  Technically the gum is still vegan, but the parent company, Mars, is known for animal testing.

The people above have no clue...hahahaha.  YES, YOU'RE EATING INGREDIENTS FROM BUGS...i.e. shellac, carmine, cochineal.

  7. kosher Jews are very strict against any insects being in their confections. try Paskesz.com or kosher.com to see what varieties of gum they have, and double check with them before you order anything. i know for a fact that Paskesz started as a kosher gum company 50+ years ago. some do have honey or beeswax, and the dubious resinous glaze... but this one checks out:

  8. I assume that you mean that sarcastically, Sorry, But I just dont understand the whole veganism religion.

So Im assuming you cant even eat a part of a bug??  It's just a bug.  Bugs don't have feelings.  Bugs are meant to be eaten there's trillions and trillions of them.

This might help you to relax.  I copied this from Wikipedia:

The term "animal product" in a vegan context refers to any material derived from animals for human use.[2] Notable animal products include meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, dairy products, honey, fur, leather, wool, and silk.[3] Common animal by-products include gelatin, lanolin, rennet, whey, casein, beeswax, isinglass and shellac.[3]

Animal products are ingredients in countless products and are used in the production of—though not always present in the final form of—many more.[24][25][26] Many of these products are obscure,[27][28] also have non-animal sources,[29] and especially in non-food products may not even be identified.[24] Although some vegans attempt to avoid all these ingredients, Vegan Outreach argues that "it can be prohibitively expensive and time-consuming to shun every minor or hidden animal-derived ingredient," and therefore that doing what is "best for preventing suffering" is more important than identifying and excluding every animal ingredient.[30][31]

Although honey and silk are by definition animal products, some vegans consider their use and the use of other insect products to be acceptable

  9. where did you hear that gum is made from beetle stuff ?
