  2. Well, at the risk of disagreeing with the others...

    Any trial can have different numbers of jurors.  Twelve is the traditional number for really ugly felonies, but lesser crimes can be tried in Louisiana with as few as six on a jury.  Each state has the right to set the rules for its trials.  For really low-level crimes, states try to minimize costs sometimes.

    So what type of jury?  A jury of your peers, numbering from six to twelve, and with a couple of possible alternates.

    One other clarification:  It is a petit jury since you used the term "criminal trial."  Grand juries don't hear trials.  They decide whether a case should GO to trial... but they don't actually hear a trial.  A petit jury hears a trial.
