So Type 1a supernova go off when the stars (well, white dwarfs) reach a specific mass: 1.4 earth masses.  So in that sense, all 1a supernova have the same mass-to-energy output, so just about all 1a SN have the same brightness (same luminosity...same power).  Type II SN occur in core-collapse SN, and the size they become can vary.  Therefore the luminosity/brightness/power of these SN can alternate with some more powerful than 1a's and some less, so it really depends.

    1a all have the same power, whereas II can vary, so it isn't an easy answer.

  3. I have heard of a hypernova which is many times more powerful than the most powerful supernova.

  4. Type 2 it has a bigger blast although it has a shorter lifespan.
