Which type of wax is best for (stripped) wooden doors?

We have wooden doors in our house which were stripped and waxed before we moved in. I need to re-do this shortly and have been looking for some neutral/clear wax. I've looked in B&Q, Homebase & Wickes, but can't find anything that looks suitable. Ronseal do brush on wax which seems to have colour in it (but i dont want any type of colour or stain in the wax) and then there's wax for wooden floors which i dont think will be suitable.

Does anybody know where I can get hold of wax suitable for internal wooden doors? Many Thanks

  1. beeswax is the most common product here... it is readily available and can be heated gently to soften it for application. if you soften it properly you can apply it with a clean rag, thus eliminating brushmarks. heating it will also allow you to mix a few drops of wood dye with it if you need to change the colour. bear in mind several coats are needed though,as its a door it will be in use all the time....

  2. Just buy plain old furniture beeswax then. This will give a slight change of colour but only say one shade and an all wood discolours with time anyway. You can buy beeswax from some supermarkets and most DIY stores
