  1. When you get to the northern latitudes of Canada, the majority of damage is usually water related. That is, either flooding caused by heavy rain associated with the storm or very high tides and surges on the coast of the Atlantic provinces caused mainly by the strong winds blowing water up against the coast. Wind usually is of less damage but can be still significant. Also there often is small short lived tornadoes associated with the storm as well.

    Wind and heavy rain would be the main concerns for Ontario and Quebec. But, these storms inland would not likely be producing winds as high as some of the winter storms and the faster movement would likely limit the rainfall to only minor flooding events.

    By far, the main damage threat is to the coastal areas of the Atlantic provinces.
