  1. For a used car over 100,000mi I would recommend a Toyota. The only drawback is that out of all cars toyotas will retain their value longer so you'll pay more for a used toyota, but it'll also last longer.

  2. Toyota

  3. Honda or Toyota

  4. Price range depends on what model, and what year, not just what mileage.

Cross Saturn off your list entirely for that mileage.  The Ion is the only one worth considering with that mileage, and it isn't that great.  (It has it's good points...tight turn radius being the biggest one, but it isn't that great)  All their earlier cars have two plateaus of failure:  70k and 120k.  Obviously, you're past one, and approaching another.

Hyundai and Kia, I wouldn't trust anything from before 2004 enough to buy it.  So they're unlikely to have 100k miles.  If they do, go Hyundai.  Kias are mechanically the same, but built in different factories, and seem to have more defects.

Toyota and Honda are likely to hold up the best, followed by Nissan and Mazda.  Both groups are roughly two-way-ties.  Even the unreliable models in those groups (Nissan's Z32 TT and Mazda's RX-7 Turbo) should be roughly comparable.

edit:  Toyotas retain value well, but for whatever, unfathomable reason, Minis and VWs retain it BETTER.

  5. Toyota or Honda . Toyota's cost a little less used . I have had an accord and Camry and the Camry ,though a little older and a little rusty , had  fewer repairs .  Just my experience, but both cars are known for engines going 200 to 300, 000 miles with regular maintenance .

  6. Anthing GM that is a few years old with reasonable miles, Kia Hyundi are only entry level brands.

  7. Honda and then Toyota.  Price range is going to be based on which model.

  8. Honda & Toyota are the most reliable but also the most expensive.

the Kia Optima & Rondo are fine vehicles as well as the Hyundai Elantra & Santa Fe.

with mazda & saturn avoid older used models stick to 05 and up.

mazda miata & saturn outlook are top of the line.

you can find used cars from 1998 for $4,000.

    99 to 00 $6,000, $6 to $8,000 00 to 03, from $8 to $10,000 you can find a wide range of vehicles from 05 Hyundai Elantra to a 03 or 04 Pontiac Vibe all the way down to a 99 BMW 3.

  9. Any used car is a risk.  The higher the mileage, the higher the risk.  With that said,  of the brands mentioned, I would avoid Mazda, Kia, and Saturn with that kind of mileage.  Toyota OR Honda is probably your best bet.  I know of many Subaru's locally with well over 200,000 miles on the original motor and tranny so don't overlook them.  You just need to make sure they have proof of all recommended maintenance done on schedule of no deal.
