Driving with air/con on or driving with windows open creating drag?

  1. Windows or so I read.


  2. It depends on your speed.

    At low speeds drag is minimal, so driving with the windows open makes little difference.

    At higher speeds drag increases (if you double your speed, you quadruple the drag), so eventually you reach as speed at which the extra drag from the windows increases consumption by more than the air-con.

    The speed at which this happens depends on the car, but is probably around 50mph.

  3. I was told it is air/con and I find that if you put the AC on for a short time and then press the internal circulation button you can get some cool air in your car, even after the AC has been turned off.

  4. Driving with air ocn on usually decreases fuel economy by anywhere between 1-5mpg! id keep the windows open if i was you!
