Our family consists of: father, mother, son (16) and twins (9). We have a '99 Montana Trans Sport with about 130k, and a '98 Volvo V70 GLT with 140k. The van takes regular gas and gets about 18-25 mpg, where the Volvo takes premium and gets 18-25 mpg. Both are in excellent condition and run great.

The van is useful to transport a lot of kids in, but handles horrible. It will need new all-season tires.

The Volvo wagon can seat 7, but the twins are getting a little big for the jump seats in the back. This wagon handles excellently and also has new tires on it and a set of dedicated snow tires for Michigan winters.

We also have a commuter car which gets better gas mileage. The question is which should be sell, if we were to replace it with a 4 door that get better gas milage?

  1. having work done on the Volvo would seem to cost more

there is more room in the Pontiac

the Pontiac runs on reg gas

on the other hand the cost of tires and alignment for the Pontiac would offset the cost of fuel for the Volvo

.........i went to a dealer that has that Volvo and sat in the center of the back seat and the only problem i had was the  large head rest that sits on top of the seat, it was in my back and i kept trying to adjust my shoulder blades, I'm 6'5" 260lbs

the back seat is made to ride three people.

you can get more money if you sell the Volvo

    my verdict...... sell the Volvo.

you have kids and they have friends.
