I need to find somewhere for a fairly small social get-together in central Newcastle that has a good view over the city - maybe a balcony, a terrace etc - any ideas?

  1. The Bridge Hotel, by the High Level Bridge, is a traditional pub with nice views across the river from its beer garden.

For something slightly more upmarket, you could try the Pitcher and Piano on the Quayside, or better still the restaurant in the Baltic on Gateshead Quays. The latter, although expensive, is probably your best option for a view of Newcastle.

  2. I agree with the above post about the Pitcher and Piano. It has a beautiful view over the river Tyne.

Also Apartments is quite a nice cosmopolitan bar but expect a strict door policy and expensive drinks especially on a Friday or Saturday night. It's slightly less formal and cheaper during the day but equally as nice.

  3. I was going to suggest the Baltic as well but I've heard its closing down.  You could also try the Sage???  This is quite a difficult one now that I'm thinking about it!

  4. Pitcher and Piano - right down on the waterfront
