  1. The second seems to me better because it ends with the word "love," the focus. And the appearance of that word puts an end to questions. In the first quote I want a continuation of the thought: love is all you need to... do what? Live happily? Complete your existence? Be successful?

    The second arrangement, which is more self-contained, has more aphoristic force. Both of these quotes call to mind the Beatles, the most immediate popular source of this sentiment, but the second seems less to require their music to carry the day.


  2. I prefer the second: All you need is love.

    It sounds more "final".

    Frankly I think you need honesty and trust too, but that doesn't "work" as well in the more familiar song lyric!
