  1. My advice would be to not get Vista as Microsoft have announced that they will be withdrawing Vista and replacing "Windows 7" as Vista is so bad. Vista still has compatability issues that Microsoft basicly cannot be bothered fixing and many people have problems with optical drives just disappering! XP is by far better than Vista at this moment in time.

  2. It depends on what you want.  But don't chose anything under windows Vista premium.  Read the box.

Also there is a rumor that Microsoft is about to dump Vista so consider whether you want to buy it now or wait.

  3. I have vista home premium.  I'm a hater when it comes to microsoft but if you want to play the top of the line games then all you can do is get microsoft.  Ok why so many different versions?  Easy,  they have more or less programs.  stupid once if you ask me.  The more pricier ones will have better visuals like the when you have more then one window and click on one, the rest fade to the back instead of just jumping there.  I think that stuff is a wast of time, and in less you have a fast computer,  It bee very slow.  So in the end I'll say get home Basic.

  4. Hi, I would suggest getting the retail version of Windows Vista, get Windows Vista 32 bit home premium if u have a 32 bit machine, but if u have more money then get Vista Ultimate.

If u have 64 bit machine then get Vista Home Premium or if u have again can afford it then get Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

  5. if you have xp already then you need Vista Upgrade, there is also many versions of Vista Such as Home Basic, Home Premium, Ultimate, Etc... if you are looking for the neat vista features and want to go cheap, go with home premium, (basic is a gyp if you ask me). but if you are looking for the latest and greatest with all the features you want Ultimate, which will cost you probably upwards of 200-300 bucks. But it all depends on what you want and how much you're willing to spend

  6. oem is cheaper but for only one pc. try ubuntu 8.4
