I recently downloaded Java 6 update 7 update, and was suggested to delete the older versions of Java. So, I went in Add/Remove programs and saw a bunch of different versions. I'm not sure which ones to delete so can someone help me?

Here are the ones listed in order:

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 3

Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2_03

Java(TM) 6 Update 3

Java(TM) 6 Update 7

Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1

Can someone tell which ones to delete? Also, what's the difference between the Updates and Runtime Environment Updates? Do I need both kinds?

  1. Click on each one  in the Add/Remove program and look on the right side of the box and any ones that say "rarely used", delete it. The one your computer uses most, keep.

  2. I would delete every one apart from Java 6 Update 7

  3. just go to program files and delete the Java folder, but that's odd, it didn't tell me to do that, if I remember correctly.

  4. Always delete your java programs first then go to the java site and install the latest version . They take up a lot of space .
