  1. A - sacral vertebrae. These are fused to form the sacrum.

    The thoracic and cervical vertebrae do not fuse to allow movement of the ribs and head respectively. The coccyx vary in number and form, they may be fused but a disk may be present between 1st and 2nd coccygeal vertebrae so it can not be consistently classified as a solid mass of bone.
