Which very small camcorder? Which format?

I am looking to buy a new camcorder to replace my Sony DCR IP1E which was micro-mv format. It is important that it is very small and produces good results. I had trouble getting editing software to work with micro-mv and this time want a format with a sensible storage capacity, good editing software and that still allows the camcorder to be very small. I have a budget of around £500. Recommendations anyone please? Many Thanks
