Which victory of the Cup will help your team out the best?

If the Penguins win the Stanley Cup, will that help out your team better than if the Red Wings win the Cup. Or if the Detroit Red Wings were to win the Stanley Cup would that help your team better in the future?

Depends on what team you are.

If you are a sucky team that can get 5 top 5 picks in a couple years, then seeing the Pens have success is better for you.

If you are a team that usually has success, but just can't get over the hump... i.e. San Jose, then its better if the Wings win.  This shows that you can lose your franchise players (Yzerman), fan favorites (Brendan Shanahan), All-stars (Sergei Fedorov), and the list goes on, you can still have success by drafting well.  You don't need good scouts to be able to pick guys like Crosby or Malkin.  But Detroit has built their teams by great drafting.  You all know the numbers on Detroit's draft picks.  This gives hope to the successful teams that they can build their teams with draft gems, not sure things that they have no chance to get.  Well, unless Bettman takes a liking to you and rigs the draft... *cough, Penguins, cough*.

How will this help the Isles? My team will still have no scoring and a goalie with 2 bad hips. This isn't like the NFL with their "Strenght of Schedule" format.   Now moving the Pens out of the division would help immensely!
