  2. a descent combo pair will allow you to go from a beginner starting on 2 skis to a more advanced level when you're ready to try skiing on 1, slalom.

  3. If you are a beginner I would suggest going for wider skis. The wider the skis, the easier it will be for you to get up on. If you aren't looking for speed or maneuverability I would suggest going to your local sporting store and getting a pair. They usually have really good sales during the end of summer/fall and they can help you out. There is no reason to buy something expensive when you are just starting out. Also, depending on your age/height you might want to start out with youth or shorter skis. They are easier to control and when beginning to go in and out of the wake they will not get caught as easy.
