  1. If we are going purely on aesthetics, I prefer the name Erica. I think that the c makes the name look softer and more feminine. That said, the name Erica is of English and Scandinavian origin, whilst the name Erika is of purely Scandinavian origin. The name Erica is used by English & Swedish peoples, whilst the name Erika is used by Scandinavian, German, Hungarian, Czech, Slovene, English people. This indicates the me that the Erika spelling of the name is much more international, and would travel well (for instance, people in Germany would not be baffled by the spelling).

The Erica spelling is the most popular in the U.S., and I would assume this is the case for all other English speaking countries. It currently ranks at #255. On the other hand, Erika ranks slightly lower on the top 1000 at #264. However I think you should consider that many countries in Europe (like the ones I have listed above) would use this name, making the Erika spelling more common internationally. I prefer the Erika spelling because of this.

  2. Erica is more common and i like that way but i also like common names spelt different. So i would pick Erika over Erica.

  3. i personally like erica. but erika is nice too.

please help with my name situation: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

  4. Erica is much more common, and honestly I like it spelt that way too.

  5. I would say that Erica is more common and looks way nicer than Erika.

Random "K"s in names make them look overly harsh.  For example Jakob, Nikole, Lukas.  I think they look horrible

  6. i actually like the traditional spelling.....Erica

  7. Hmm...well...my theory on this is that...okay...I prefer Lukas than Lucas because Lucas sort of looks like Lucy!!

So, Erica looks more like Eric...where as Erika is more feminine to me.  BUT, Erica probably looks nicer, and is more common.

  8. if you are trying to be traditional then Erica is better but if want to have an unusual spelling then you should use Erika. However i personally prefer Erica. I think with a k, Erika can look a bit harsh.

  9. I like erica more

  10. I like the more traditional Erica.... very nice

  11. Erika is nice. I guess you could be creative. Erikka, Erikah etc etc

  12. Since the name is of Scandinavian origin, Erika would be considered the traditional spelling. It comes from the old norse name Eiríkr (modern version is Erik). Erica is the anglo-saxon spelling. Both are perfectly legitimate spellings. If either parent has Scandinavian or German lineage then I would go with the Erika spelling. Other than that it is just a personal choice.

  13. try erykah!!!!! sorry i just love alternavite spelling

  14. Erika looks better. If you spell it 'ERICA' then it could be mispronounced as 'Erisha.'

    (best answer plz?)

  15. I think Erica looks nicer and is definitely more common, which is a good thing!

  16. I'd personally like Erika.

  17. Erica is definitely more common but Erika just looks better

  18. Always go for traditional spelling... it will give your daughter less trouble later.  In this case, go for Erica.
