If you are wondering about which way the whirpool of a drain goes, in the northern hemisphere all drains are clockwise. In the southern hemisphere all drains are counter clockwise.

All toilets flush down unless connected directly into a mercerator pump. Even if connected inderectly to a mercerator pump, the toilet flushes down to the pump and then the pump pumps up. Water does not, can not and will not flow up hill.

First down, then up, and finally down.  Then it goes North for a while, then West.  Next is goes down again, but only a little ways, where is sits for a while.  After a long while it moves a little west again, and then down, where if there are enough flushes, it will be suck down and then back up and into the drain field.
