Which way to send a 15 kg box from Chennai to Pune?

Question

I need to post a box of 15kg around from chennai to pune.

This box contains some cloths and two Dell P3 laptops.

Indian Postal Parcel services website suggests that it will cost 501 rupees.

So please suggest me

(1) which postal service and which method should I use.

(2) should i go for insurance of it or not.

(3) some one suggest me to go for services like Agarwal Packers and Movers, is it good

4) how much total cost it will take.

Hoping for some good answers.

You can book the material with XPS Transport after packing them in carton boxes using thermocoal.  Mark the box stating it contains delicate items and to be handled carefully.  They will take extreme care of that.

It costs Rs. 200/- (depending on the size and weight) for booking the material. If you feel necessary, opt transit insurance for laptops (0.1% of laptop cost) only.  You can track the material online at ww.xpsworld.com.

Govt. postal service is safe & is not costly. Courier & other methods are not reliable.Did you try Air-cargo or through friends

As you are also sending two laptops, you should not take risks of theft, as you are expected to declare the contents, for the Commercial tax purpose. Private couriers will take only Rs.100.00 insurance claim, for a lost parcel. I feel, you go for an Insured post parcel, from the nearby post Office. As such Agarwal are highly reputed people, if you can get assurance, then opt for them.

In any way, the difference is hardly a hundred or two hundred rupees, what you are going to save.

Another thing is postal people does not care to handle the parcel properly, and does not assure exact delivery period.

The best thing is, give it to Railways. Note down the particular Train number, and expected arrival of that train at Pune, and ask the adressee to cllect it.
