Question:

Which will raise my credit score?

I have two credit cards, a Visa card from my bank and a store credit card. My main reason for getting the store card was for rewards and discounts for having the card whether I use it or not. As far as my credit score goes, it's 732 last I checked. I of course want to see how high I can get it. I'm wondering what will raise my credit score faster: using the cards and paying off the balances every month or having the cards but use them as little as possible?

  1. What raises your score is the history of the cards, how long you have had them, and your payment history.

Larger loans like a car note or a mortgage payment in good standing will also increase your score faster than a credit card.

  2. Using them and paying in full every month is the way to go.

I have done this with 3 cards for the last year and not only raised my score almost 150-points but got back almost one thousand dollars in cash back rewards. Not bad for using someone else's money for free.

  3. using them a little and paying in full.
