Which will shoot farther

Question

a long barreled say 5 foot air cannon or a 3 foot short barrel air cannon

both using the same size of projectile and under the same psi and same conditions and why. Thank you for any answers

The shorter one will shoot farther. But not as accurate. The reason is there is less drag caused by the barrel. But also less time to be controlled for accuracy.

The longer one will shoot farther because the force of the air acts on it longer giving it a larger impulse j=(delta)t*F=m(delta)v.  The increase in time that the force acts on the objects increases its momentum which increases its change in velocity.  Impulse = change in momentum.
