  1. Valencia Dry with the main course, Moscatel de Valencia with the dessert.

  2. I prefer a Red Zinfandel with pork but a Pinot Noir can work nicely, too.

  3. NO!

Don't get wine...a special treat would be "Meantime"'s flavoured beers.

They come in pretty papered packaging and come in flavours like chocolate, cherry and raspberry.

    Oooh, go on!

I'd love that if ANYONE gave it to me...only because I tried it once and have never been able to find it since :(

I heard they do it in Sainsburys and so I went a-lookin' and had no luck. Hope you have better luck than me!

  4. Do they prefer red or white?

Don't worry about whether you should serve red or white with whatever you're cooking. If they don't like either they won't enjoy it.

Set a budget  ÃƒÂ‚£5-10 would be fine but go nuts if you want.

Not sure where you are but Oddbins staff are usually very knowledgeable and helpful so just ask what the recommend within your limits.

If your getting it from a supermarket makers like Penfolds

and Wolf Blass make very nice wines for reasonable prices.

Don't be swayed by snobbery or supposed rules go with something you think they'll like.

I know some would disagree but I'd be tempted by going for a s***w top or plastic cork.If it's a special occasion you don't want a corked bottle.

    Good luck.

  5. Merlot always works for me.

  6. lacrimi di cristo - christ's tears..

a lovely wine from the slopes of vesuvius.. a little pricey tho'

  7. A nice, safe wine is Gamay Beaujolais.  I'm not sure how you are cooking the pork, but if it's spicy, you need a bolder wine like Shiraz or Merlot.  If it is light sauce or fruity, you need a white wine like Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay.

What is for dessert?  If it is fruity, try asti spumanti or champagne.  You might also purchase port or sherry and allow that to be dessert.

  8. Mmmm, think I'd go for a rose, maybe try Ernest and Julio Gallo; White Grenache, or Zinfandel. Quite light and fruity....not too sweet or too dry.

  9. Dry white wine chilled with dinner.

A sparkling sweeter wine for dessert.

  10. If your talking about Hellen and Gene..??

    then Mogan David red

If it is Oscar and Dorthy any fre' or (?)

  11. Get Mum some Ripple, or Mad Dog 20/20.   :)

  12. I would go with a White Zinfindel or a Pinot Nir depending on their taste ........  either would be great for your meal ....... = )

  13. A white wine...possibly an Italian Bianca or white Zinfandel. Even a Moscotto, if you like some bubbles.

  14. wine depends too much on personal taste, but i would say you would want a white wine, specifics depends on taste though... a light white wine would be good with the pork, a fruitier wine would be better with the dessert.  If you are going all out on a dinner just for your mother and father, consider a sparkling wine (basically a cheeper champagne)
