Hi im thinking about buying a wireless router but im not sure which one is good for me. My computer is bought in korea and it says it runs on 802.11b/g. I need to use it with 2 other computers but usually only 1. The other computer is bought in new zealand and I'm living in new zealand right now.

I've found some that might be ok like the D-Link DSL-G604T-Gen II or the DSL-2740B RANGEBOOSTER-N. The rangebooster is a bit too expensive but it's 802.11n so isn't it faster? I'm looking for a wireless adsl modem not a separate router attached to a modem.

Would using a router like the first one (which uses 802.11g) make any difference to the speed? And when I tried going to a wireless hotspot, I could go onto the site where you enter your details but I couldn't connect so if anyone knew anything about that, I would really appreciate the help.

Also do you need a wireless adapter card to use wireless internet or since notebooks have a wireless function do you not need them?

Thanks

  1. Um.. I find the Linksys is a good router company for landlines.. wireless.. in my personal experience.. Id try netgear. Both are good routers that I use. Also on your laptop question it depends on if your laptop has a wireless adaptation built in. Both ways I would recommend getting a wireless card. Because built in wireless adapters can sometimes c**p out on you some times.
